Visiting Montana! 🤩

Hi friends! I can’t believe that it’s been a whole year since my last post! So much work, so little time to travel 😉

But! In keeping with my goal of visiting all 50 states before my 50th birthday, I had been trying to decide which one to see next. Now that I’ve been living in the mid-west, I’ve really been missing being near forests and mountains, so Montana, one of the states still on my list, jumped into the top slot! 🏔️😃

Bigfork, MT

I decided to stay near Bigfork after finding a cute Airbnb in the woods that was also central to lots of hikes/walks. The first day was a little over cast, but I found a lovely trail along Swan River, complete with a deer who walked right toward me on the path! 🦌

Afterward, I walked into their little historic downtown to check out the shops. And I also stopped for lunch at Flathead Lake Brewing Co., which has a really beautiful view of the lake from their deck and also, a stuffed portobello mushroom dish that was super delicious.😋

Glacier National Park!🎉

The highlight of this visit to Montana was going to Glacier National Park! I was really lucky that the Going To The Sun Road was open because the night before my visit, it was partially closed due to snow at higher elevations. 🥶 This road connects the East and West entrances and extends the length of the park. It also includes Logan’s Pass which has some of the most beautiful hikes in Glacier.

Like Patagonia, I had a hard time choosing which pictures to post because they were all so gorgeous! Here are a few of my favorites.

The whole area is known for their huckleberry desserts and I finished my time in Glacier with a tasty slice of huckleberry pie, which totally hit the spot! 🥧

More Hiking

There were so many lovely hiking/walking options around where I was staying and I found some really peaceful places to explore and thankfully, I didn’t meet any bears!🐻

Last Day in Montana

As I was leaving my Airbnb, I saw a little deer family grazing on the lawn! 🥰 Before heading to the airport, I walked around downtown Kalispell, and they have a handful of fun, touristy shops, complete with cute cowboy boots and hats! 🤠

Happy September! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the start of Fall! I’m hoping to get one more state checked off of my list before the end of the year, so one more post coming in 2026 🙂
